Looking Back on the World Cutting Tool Conference 2024 in Japan
The Japan Cutting & Wear-resistant Tool Association (JTA) held the World Cutting Tool Conference 2024 (WCTC 2024) at Grand Cube Osaka in Nakanoshima, Osaka, and other locations for four days from May 21 to 24. The conference was attended by tool and machine tool manufacturers from around the world. The program included lectures by experts, social programs, factory tours and Japanese cultural experiences, and corporate booths were set up at the venue. The following is a recap of the conference and an introduction to the products and technologies of related companies.
MST corporation conducts a factory tour
MST corporation hosted a factory tour. Sixty-one WCTC participants from 39 companies in eight countries participated in the tour. As the first manufacturer in Japan to commercialize tool holders, the MST corporation representative emphasized the significance of their existence, saying, "Tool holders are essential for demonstrating the performance of cutting tools," and introduced technologies, including tool holders for machining centers (MC) for high-precision machining.
According to the representative, the company actively accepts factory tours and disseminates useful information to customers. The representative also introduced the company's efforts in automated production systems utilizing robots and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), innovations to reduce the time and effort of robot teaching, and predictive maintenance of MCs.
In addition to the visit to MST corporation, WCTC tour included stops at the Kirin Brewery Kobe and Osaka Castle.
